Our Story and Mission

Tholuvam was born out of a profound concern for animal welfare and a deep desire to bridge the gap between humans and animals in an ethical, meaningful way. We provide sanctuary for animals in need, offering rehabilitation and permanent homes for animals unable to return to their natural habitats.

Our name 'Tholuvam' comes from the Tamil language and refers to the place where animals, particularly pets, are housed, fed, and watered.

We create opportunities for visitors to connect with animals through educational programs, guided tours, and ethical interaction experiences that prioritize animal welfare.

Our Core Values

These values guide everything we do at Tholuvam, from the way we care for our animals to how we interact with our visitors.

Compassionate Care

We provide the highest standard of care for all animals at our sanctuary, respecting their natural behaviors and needs. Our enclosures are designed to mimic natural habitats, and our care protocols prioritize both physical and psychological wellbeing.

Ethical Interaction

All interactions with animals are designed to be stress-free and on the animal's terms. We never force interactions and constantly monitor animal behavior to ensure positive experiences for both the animals and the participants.

Conservation Impact

Beyond providing a sanctuary, we actively participate in conservation efforts for native species. A portion of visitor fees directly supports our conservation programs, including habitat restoration and breeding programs.

Educational Excellence

We believe that education is the foundation of conservation. Our programs are designed to be informative, engaging, and inspiring, fostering a deeper understanding of wildlife and the importance of conservation efforts.

Be Part of Our Story

Whether you visit us, volunteer, or support our conservation efforts, you can help us continue our mission of connecting humans and animals for a better future.
